In many cases, dental crowding is caused not by the teeth themselves, but is due to the size or position of the jaw. Habits such as thumb-sucking and mouth-breathing can also impede jaw development. If your child’s jaw is too small or narrow to accommodate a normal-sized set of adult teeth, they may benefit from early intervention in the form of expansion appliances

We start checking if children need early intervention between the ages of 7 and 9. One of the biggest benefits of early intervention is that it can reduce, or even eliminate, the need for braces later on.

Traditional braces and clear aligners are both tools for moving teeth around. Many patients (or their parents) have asked us which option will be better for them.

At Beach Street Centre, we love aligners for mild and moderate cases. They are near-invisible, gentle on the teeth, smooth to touch, and easily removed for cleaning and playing sports. No more painful wires, broken brackets, and food accumulation! Our clear aligners are made from TGA-approved medical-grade polymer that is free of BPA and latex. 

In select cases, we may recommend and provide traditional braces for you, to achieve particular tooth movements.
